Who keeps this list

About

This site does one thing. It lists hotels in four categories, counts them openly, and describes each one in plain prose.

The count matters to us. A directory that claims breadth it does not have is worse than a short one, so the tally marks on the home page are drawn from the actual number of entries and change only when an entry is added or removed. Where a category is thin — ice hotels, at present a single property — we leave it thin.

What we write

Entries describe the building, the setting and the character of a stay. We avoid the things that cannot be verified from the outside: no invented guest reviews, no star ratings, no scoring system, no claims about price.

Casino hotels appear here because they are hotels. We write about the architecture, the restaurants, the venues and the surroundings, and we note the gaming floor as one feature of a larger property.

What we are not

We are not a booking agent and never handle a reservation. No hotel pays to appear. If a description no longer matches the place, it gets rewritten or removed.
